We Made It !!! Barely!!!

We are finally here! Yes, after the plane ride from hell, (they did hold the plane for us in Miami) we all arrived in Montevideo in one piece.

Today the girls are finally settled and getting into the swing of things. The last two days have been a little rough. There is a 5 hour time difference so Libby and Hailey have been going to bed close to 11pm and getting up around 10am. I have had to adjust my thinking on this one a bit. The first night it really stressed me out, but it works!

Libby, the picky eater that she is, had a really hard time the first day finding anything to eat. You would not believe how difficult it was to find peanut butter! We had to ask more than one person at the Tienda Inglasa where to find it on the shelves. I thought the first morning she might starve until a kind vendor at the Feria gave her a banana, no charge ( he has grandchildren). Today was much better, she ate almost 4 slices of a personal sized pizza for lunch! For me, on the other hand, it has been quite easy. Isabel found a shop that sells gluten free mixes and with all the veggies, fruit, and cheese I can eat- I'm set.

Libby has also been very funny with her spanish. A neighbor gave Isabel a little stuffed cow that she has been playing with. She walks around saying "vamanos amigos" and shaking the handles on the doors saying "abre" (Thank you Dora the Explorer!) She has already been very cute and only a little shy with Nona (Paul's 98 yr old grandmother). Today she told Paul and Isabel "Nona is so cute!" and asked to go and say goodnight to her.

Montevideo for me is better than expected! It is sooo different from the good old USA, and not nearly as convenient. But the weather has been beautiful and city is old, but quaint. I have only seen a very small piece thus far, but with sunny skies, close proximity to the beach, a rooftop patio private enough for sunbathing, and mate with cheese and dulce de leche twice a day- you cannot really go wrong. Paul explained it to me best. He said that in Uruguay we would be reminded that life is simple.

Hailey has been a trooper, of course. She smiles and coos all day long. Angel child! And today we went to a jeweler and purchased earings for piercing! I couldn't believe how expensive they were. I told Paul they will be the most expensive jewelry we ever buy her. Aw, tradition!

I am unable to upload any pictures for some reason... but I will try again soon!

Chau for now!!

I have been waiting for this post, but was disappointed to not hear much about the plane ride. Can you elaborate on "hell"?

Let's just say that they held the plane for us in Dallas because I was in the bathroom after Elizabeth pooped her pants... and that was our shortest flight :)
