A Name & A Blessing

On Sunday the 18th Paul blessed little Hailey Ann and gave her a name. In the mist of the stress and pageantry that accompanied this great event... it was unfortunately days before I was able to listen to a recording of the blessing Paul gave; and take a minute to appreciate the great, sweet spirit that has been entrusted to Paul and I. Do all parents think their children will move mountains?!

This post is meant as a tribute to our beautiful new addition. She is easy to miss by her tini size, but from anywhere in the house, she makes herself heard!

Hailey is 7 weeks old and I am guessing her to be just under 9 lbs. She is a fantastic eater and a terrible sleeper. Not to say that she does not sleep. She gets a ton of sleep during the late morning and early afternoon hours... so she can eat ever 1.5-2 hours all night long. And it is no use trying to keep her up during the day. She still gets up as often at night. :(

Hailey rarely cries. She cries only on cue when hungry or overstimulated. She does however grumble and squawk all day and night. She smiles quite a bit, and if I am lucky she will laugh for me at least once a day. She is very tolerant of her big sister's "mothering" and never seems to bothered when a binkie is shoved in her mouth or a blanket thrown over her eyes. We'll see how she handles the "bossing" when she get a bit older!

Hailey has very long limbs and a strong neck. I have just started giving her tummy time and she pops her head right up and looks from side to side. She reminds us us a little bird. She will also play on her back for a good 10 mins. looking around at her baby toys before getting bored. She likes her bouncer and likes her swing, likes the car seat and likes the sling. She is just very easy going in general- if you can get past the bear growling and understand that she really is just talking.

Hailey's personality and appearance are so different from Elizabeth! It is fascinating that they came from the same gene pool. And why don't they look like me?!
Paul and I are thrilled to be the parents of two beautiful and healthy girls... just wait til they can be in dance and soccer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So cute. It's fun to hear the newborn stories again since Braeden will be three in May! Although I don't miss Braeden keeping me up half the night too. And it just got worse as he got older! He started waking every 45 minutes and didn't sleep through the night until 14 months... Sorry, I guess I shouldn't be telling you this. I'm sure she'll start sleeping better soon as most kids do. But I know how you feel so let me know if you ever need anything. :) That was a great blessing by the way.
